I woke up this morning with this acronym in my mind: H.O.P.E Having Optimistic Peace Everyday. With all of the backwards and upside down things going on in the world these days, it can all feel so hopeless. But is it? Perhaps God gave me this acronym of hope to encourage me. Maybe, I in turn can encourage you.

We can not take in the things of the world by sight only, we must at all times view things with our intuition, our heart and our faith if we are to have peace in the storm. We must believe that good will ALWAYS prevail over evil. It may take a while, but I believe that all that is concealed now will in time be revealed. Just go back in history and you will see that.

How do we have optimistic peace every day? For me, it is trying to live in the moment. For me it is trying not to worry about tomorrow and what it might bring. For me it is doing what I can and leaving the extra presumed burdens to God. It is remembering all of the trials He has brought me through already and remembering all of the blessings I do have. Whatever we tend to focus on expands. Being grateful restores my faith in his company. I have the knowing that He is always with me no matter what is happening in the world or in my day.

Psalm 139; 1-12 (NIV) says: You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; If I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if i settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like day, for darkness is as light to you.

This passage gives me so much comfort and knowing that He is always with us. If he is that close to each person, then how can the world as a whole be abandoned? I know everyone has been given free will and there are many evil and bad people in the world but we have to wake up and realize how much hate is fueling peoples words, actions and motives around us. Hate blinds people from seeing or caring about the truth. Hope allows people to live in the truth. In John 14:6 Jesus says ” I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” So if He is truth, then that is what I want to see, beyond and through the evil energy of hate that is so pervasive in our society and on our screens. I am far from perfect but I hope to try my very best to have as much peace every day I can. I hope that you can too.
